David: A fun game with Miranda on a slightly wet Saturday morning on Clapham Common! The weather forecast predicted no rain but the clouds had other ideas and the court was slightly wet! However, we were not deterred and proceeded to play without any major incidents! The first set was thrilling! We had some exhilarating rallies and Miranda proved to be a tough competitor! Despite my best efforts, Miranda seemed to have an answer to everything I threw at her and deservedly roared into a 4-1 lead! However, the tables turned in my favour and I somehow won the next five games in a row! Yet it should be noted that I rode my luck at times, particularly on the final point. Trailing 5-4, Miranda appeared to have forced yet another deuce while facing a set-point but I somehow ran backwards and struck the ball high in the air! Miranda appeared to have covered all bases but the ball cruelly looped off the net and bounced out of her reach to hand me the opening set! I’m so sorry, Miranda! The second set started with another long game which Miranda deservedly won! From this point onwards, I began to exert more control and made fewer unforced errors! Once again, we had some awesome exchanges but I claimed the next six games in succession to secure a hard-earned fourth victory of the season! Well played Miranda! You played some amazing shots and caused me all sorts of problems, especially in the first set! I was very fortunate to come through this match unscathed! I really enjoyed meeting you and best of luck in the rest of the league! I hope you have an amazing time on your travels next year and I hope we can play again one day!
