David: A tough match with Eugene on a beautiful Tuesday morning at Southfields! Upon our arrival, the court was slightly wet following some overnight rain but conditions were still good! As we finished our warm-up, the clouds gave way to sunshine! Perfect timing! After winning the toss and electing to serve first, I held unconvincingly and Eugene deservedly levelled up the set at 1-1. I played with more freedom in the next two games and marched into a 3-1 lead. However, Eugene began to cause me problems and made it 3-3! While Eugene remained calm and composed, I made too many unforced errors! As a consequence, I sacrificed more aggressive groundstrokes for lower-risk shots and this strategy paid off! The next two games were shared and it was subsequently 4-4 but I held my nerve to win the final two games and close out victory by the skin of my teeth! Well played Eugene! You fought extremely hard and played some superb shots! I was very nervous at the end and very relieved to get over the line! It was great to meet you and I hope we can meet again some time! Best of luck in the rest of the league!
