Bassem: Great game with long rallies!

David: A thrilling match with Bassem on a glorious sunny afternoon at Westside Lawn and Tennis Club! We battled it out for two hours and it was Bassem who was victorious! The first set was extremely close as we both attempted to outsmart the other with a series of lengthy rallies and games! I won the opening game to love but Bassem turned the tables and soared into a 4-1 lead. I fought back and reduced the deficit to 4-3 but Bassem won the next game and went 5-3 ahead. I claimed the next two games to level the set at 5-5! However, Bassem held his nerve and took the final two games to clinch the opening set! The second set was equally as competitive! Once again, I won the opener and an epic game with around six deuces followed but Bassem eventually levelled up the set at 1-1. I produced my best tennis of the match in the next three games and roared into a 4-1 lead! Unfortunately for me, Bassem responded well and soon made it 4-4! I went 15-0 up in the ninth game but our time slot on court had ended. We had an impromptu 20-minute break before returning to an adjacent court which had become available! The next four games were shared and a tie break followed. I dictated the rallies in the tie break and deservedly levelled the match at one set all! We had just enough time to play a deciding tie break. Crucially, Bassem raised his game when it mattered most and played with more aggression and freedom! With the shackles off, Bassem gave me the runaround by spraying the ball into the corners and taking full control! Fittingly, Bassem clinched victory with a superb slice which dropped over the net and left me completely powerless! Well played Bassem! This match could have gone either way but you thoroughly deserved to win in the end! I’m glad we finished the match! It was over two years since our last meeting and I hope we won’t have to wait as long for our next battle! Best of luck in the rest of the league!
